Set up SocialX’s WhatsApp Chat App on Shopify


Here below is an easy guide for you to set up the WhatsApp Chat App using SocialX for your Shopify store.

[Step-1] How to open Apps page?

  1. Log in to your online store.

2. Click on the Apps button in the admin dashboard.

3. Click on the SocialX app from the list of other apps installed for your store.


[Step 2] Completing pending installation

  1. Click on the Pending section placed on the left side of the screen.

2. Click on the ‘Setup in 4 steps’ button placed next to the WhatsApp Chat app.

3. Click on the ‘Let’s install it’ option to proceed further.


[Step 3] Adding User on WhatsApp Chat app

  1. Click on the ‘Add User’ tab to begin. This user would communicate with the customers on your store’s behalf.

2. Provide all relevant information like name and contact number under the ‘Add a user’ window.

3. Select the Role message from the three default options – ‘Contact me for general support’, ‘Contact me for sales enquiries’ and ‘Contact me for marketing opportunities’ – or select the ‘Add custom message’ option to write something other than the default messages. 

4. After setting up one user for communication, you can add more users if required for your store.


[Step 4] Customizing WhatsApp Button

  1. Select a Button color, Icon color and Button Location. Changes will preview on the right side of the screen.
  2. We recommend you to use default settings and make changes later as per requirements.
  3. Click on the ‘Next’ tab to proceed further.

[Step 5] Customizing WhatsApp widget

  1. Write a Widget title, sub-title and another sub-title (a message when no user is online).
  2. Tick the ‘Display user availability status’ option for visitors to know when the user is online.
  3. We recommend you to use default settings and make changes later as per requirements.
  4. Click on the ‘Next’ tab to reach the final step.

[Step 6] Setting up Greetings Message

  1. Write a message for your customers when they visit the website for the first time in 24 hours.
  2. Set up two hyperlinked text options, which will decide if your customer wants to chat or not.
  3. We recommend you to use default settings and make changes later as per requirements.
  4. Click on ‘Done’ to complete the installation process. 

After successful installation, the SocialX WhatsApp Chat app will appear on your online store. You can check if it is working fine with a simple checklist here.
